Overview:
The Staff/Senior Scientist is responsible for providing highly developed technical and scientific skills to assist in the design, development and commercialization of tissue-based products used for soft tissue repair. This individual will help build core competencies in regenerative medicine and biologically derived materials by providing technology assessments, coordinating and conducting all aspects of early stage research and development and supporting product development teams.
Essential Job Functions:
* Conducting all aspects of research and development including study design, protocol writing, coordination with external labs/vendors/consultants, data analysis, report writing, presentation and publication.
* Interfacing with Product Development Team Leaders, R&D Engineers and Management in the execution of duties cited above.
* Functions as a scientific resource for Product Development Teams, Marketing and Sales as needed.
* Presenting published papers at tradeshows, conventions as needed.
* Providing technical training for the sales force as needed.
* Assisting in the evaluation of new products/technologies for acquisitions.
* Evaluating lab instruments/technologies and making recommendations for purchasing.
* Reviewing scientific literature in order to stay current as needed in the industry.
* Special projects as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
M.S. degree in biomaterials, biomedical engineering, chemical engineering or related field.
A minimum of 2 years experience in product development in the medical device/drug industry.
Experience developing and characterizing biologically-derived materials used as scaffolds for tissue regeneration
Knowledge of GLPs.
Experience in the peer-reviewed publication process.
Ability to travel occasionally.
Additional Desirable Qualifications Skills and Knowledge:

PhD preferred.

Experience modifying biologically derived materials using growth factors, small molecules, etc., preferred.
